Promoted Tweets: What Twitter advertising means to you

What, exactly, do promoted tweets mean for most Twitter users? Promoted tweets are the first of a planned group of Twitter advertisements that will appear as highlighted search results. short term installment loans from venture capitalists can’t support Twitter forever, regardless how negatively promoted tweets may be going over.

How Promoted Tweets will work

Built to be similar to, but more “organic” than Google advertisements, Promoted Tweets will operate on search results. When somebody uses search.twitter.com, contextually relevant results will appear at the top of the search results. For instance, a search for the term “red bull” might show a promoted tweet by Red Bull above current Twitter chatter. At least five companies have already signed up for Promoted Tweets, including Sony, Starbucks, Best Purchase, Bravo, and Red Bull.

Promoted Tweets to be rated by users

Promoted Tweets will use tweets that paying companies would post anyway. Twitter is hoping that twitters will bookmark, retweet, or reply to the promoted tweets. Tweets that don’t get interaction will be removed from the list of promoted tweets. Debt settlement relief may be in the future for Twitter if the promoted tweets program is successful.

Plans for the growth of Promoted Tweets

Eventually, promoted tweets could be displayed in places other than search results. If the promoted tweets program is successful, Twitter plans to expand the program. The business account’s promoted tweets can be “injected” into timelines. Second, these Promoted Tweets will also be displayed by Twitter clients such as Tweetie and Seesmic, also as clients being developed by companies that have chosen to hire a dedicated programmer to create iPhone and Android apps.

The financial reality of Promoted Tweets

The Promoted Tweets program could be the first attempt of Twitter to monetize their website. Since 2006, Twitter has refused to monetize their very popular service. The head of Twitter, Biz Stone, has said they wanted to create value before revenue. With Promoted Tweets, it appears Twitter can be looking to give investors a return on the $ 57 million that has been invested within the business. If the addition of advertising to other social networks is any indication, users will most likely be fine with advertising supporting their favorite service.
