America to allocate $2 billion in Pakistan military help

The Associated Press reports that Obama may be searching for one more massive money advance for the throughout the world “War on Terror”. This time, the Obama administration has committed $2 billion toward Pakistan military aid to fight extremist groups like the Taliban and al-Qaida. Secretary of State Hillary Clinton announced at a press conference that the funds would be dispersed from 2012 to 2016 for U.S. arms, ammo and field equipment.

Not offering each Pakistan military services the aid

The proposed Pakistan military aid would not go to all the Pakistani military units, the AP accounts. This is what the Obama administration wants. Some units are suspected of committing human rights abuses, for instance execution without trial and torture of prisoners. The Pakistani government might not even strategy to policing its border with Afghanistan. There is also a concern about previous United States funding being used to purchase missiles to target India which is a United States ally. The nation is already getting $7.5 billion to help with its recent flood which is before counting the military aid.

A meeting for announcing the program was made by Clinton and Qureshi

Clinton needed to be very careful about what occurred at the conference with herself as Secretary of State and Pakistani Foreign Minister Shah Mahmood Qureshi. It appears like the Islamabad government does not care much about terrorism which the United States of America doesn’t like that much. Clinton, nevertheless, spoke about how the people in Pakistan have had to “sacrifice” and give “service” in order to bring the country back.

Qureshi replied to the terrorism accusations by saying, “We don’t know what greater proof to offer (as proof to the contrary) than the blood of our individuals.”

Human rights something the U.S. wants Pakistan to work on<

Pakistani units suspected of human rights violations are excluded from receiving United States Military support by 1997 legislation backed by Democratic Sen. Patrick Leahy of Vermont. The AP explains that the Leahy Amendment, “bars United States of America military services assistance from going to foreign armed forces suspected of committing atrocities.”The Leahy Amendment “bars United States of America military assistance from going to foreign armed forces suspected of committing atrocities.” This is what the AP reports. The Leahy Amendment is still in place and will continue to be essential. In fact, within the forthcoming Pakistan military services aid negotiations, it can be held up still. Units that fail to comply with the Leahy Amendment are being encouraged to toe the line.
