National Basketball Association restriction delivers Athletic Propulsion Labs to the lead

The National Basketball Association spotlight is not on a player right now. Instead, it is on LA footwear design company Athletic Propulsion Labs. The year-old business has created a shoe – the Concept 1 – that has been prohibited by the NBA. Some say this may be a genius marketing move, while others claim it’s a true engineering breakthrough.

Concept 1 coming out ultimately from Athletic Propulsion Labs

The Concept 1 shoe by Athletic Propulsion Labs is a shoe designed to boost vertical leap. When a wearer jumps, more energy return is given with the shoe because of an internal spring system and design. The show was made so that during an athletic game, there could be technological advantages. It depends on the specific player. It depends on the player’s athletic ability, height and weight.

A large ban on Athletic Propulsion Labs shoes

As of today, the National Basketball Association has officially banned Athletic Propulsion Labs’ Concept 1 shoe. The NBA was specific. Any shoe that “creates an undue competitive advantage” is banned. This is the first time a shoe had been banned from the NBA because of an advantage. It’s the second footwear to be banned though. The only other time a shoe was banned had been the Air Jordan, which had been banned for visual distraction.

Is it engineering or advertising?

The APL site put up a “banned by the NBA” banner as soon as the official ban from the National Basketball Association on the Athletic Propulsion Labs shoe came out. The company is only a year old right now. Sports loving customers are now much more interested. By getting banned by the NBA, Athletic Propulsion Labs has made a smart advertising move. Are the shoes that good? Did the restriction only occur because of marketing? The high price of the Concept 1 footwear won’t stop Athletic Propulsion Labs customers from getting them. Even if they’re $300, they’ll nevertheless sell. The line of basketball shoes is only the first for this small business that has more attention than it had ever planned. In 2011, Athletic Propulsion Labs plans on having new running technology.
