Jobs blasts Android and Rim at Apple earnings conference

Steve Jobs made a surprise visit to a recent Apple earnings press conference. Earnings for Apple Inc. for the fourth quarter were substantial. Apple insider explains that he started by saying he could not resist showing up to the first $20 billion quarter for Apple even though he typically wouldn’t attend such meetings. He surely slammed the competitors also. Research In Motion was told to catch up since they’re far behind. This was because 2 million more iPhones were sold than RIM Blackberries. He also explained that Apple activates 275,000 units a day while Google’s Android Smartphone only activated 200,000 a day.

Android tablets will not last for very long

Since AAPL just hit $300 a share, which is the best stock price Apple has ever seen, Jobs decided to talk about the software and tablets competition. He said that Google’s says about the iPhone being “closed” and Android being “open” were misleading. He also pointed out that the Android tablet PCs due out soon will be “dead on arrival” because a 7-inch screen is only a bit bigger than an intelligent phone. He explains that anything Apple makes is made in house. This means you’ll always get much more for a cheaper price with Apple.

Getting ‘Back to the Mac’

Another Apple event is being planned. It will be on Wed though. CNET accounts that the topic of this, called “Back to the Mac” could be the Mac operating system with new hardware.
