The Beatles accessible for legal purchase, based on iTunes announcement

The Beatles music catalog is now available for download. This was the official Nov sixteen Apple announcement. Apple has been saying that some kind of statement could be made come November 16. There were many rumors about the iTunes announcement. Very few, if any of the rumors were about The Beatles, however.

iTunes announcement – The Beatles

Within the iTunes store, the whole Beatles catalog is now available as of 6:30 a.m. Pacific Time on November 16. The 7 a.m. iTunes announcement occurred right after this. The full Beatles catalog is now included on the iTunes store, with tracks accessible for $1.29 each. The full Beatles boxed set can be purchased for $149. Years back it was expected that the Beatles would soon be allowed on iTunes after a dispute settlement that everyone knew about.

Apple announcing on Nov 16

There were many speculations around the November 16 Apple statement. There was hope for the iTunes headline for some. iTunes moving to cloud-based, online services was one guess. A full statement of the iOS 4.2 was what others though the iTunes statement would be. The Beatles catalog appearing the iTunes store was a surprise. Until then, nobody expected the statement to be about that. The half-hour delay between The Beatles catalog coming available and the formally announcement being made is relatively standard for new music availability.

iTunes 7 years waiting on a statement

There has been a seven year dispute between Apple and the Beatles’ parent corporation, Apple Corp. The dispute was settled in 2007. This was all after 30 years of debating over it. When that dispute was settled in 2007, Steve Jobs said “We love the Beatles, and it has been painful being at odds with them over these trademarks. It feels great to resolve this in a positive manner.” The Beatles music hasn't been available for download legally. Also, the full catalog of The Beatles music being accessible for lawful download is really exciting as iTunes is the first place to complete it.
