There may be a brand new Barracuda on the way

People love muscle cars. The classic Barracuda may be the next to come back. Retro styles are being revived. Performance automobiles are given old looking facelifts. There has been buzz about the return of classics for some time, and the Barracuda in particular. However, there are some challenges, especially because Plymouth does not exist anymore.

Barracuda coming back as a rumor

USA Today reports that the design head of the Chrysler organization and head of Dodge, Roger Gilles, made an appearance at the Specialty Equipment Market Association trade show, or SEMA. Only people within the auto industry are able to show up to the event. New projects had been a question he was asked. Barracuda was something he happened to mention. He seems to really want it back after being asked over it for so long. This doesn’t guarantee the return of the Barracuda, but it wouldn’t be the worst move to make. The Ford Mustang and Chevy Camaro both have had retro updates. There was also a return of the Dodge Charger and Dodge Challenger. These both did well. The hitch is the Barracuda had been made by Plymouth, which doesn’t exist anymore.

MOPAR muscle classics

The Plymouth Barracuda was an incredibly popular car among muscle cars. Everyone loved Plymouth. This had been since the cars were cheap and performed well. You could get a 273-cubic-inch V8 or 6-cylinder within the first generation which cost about $2,500 from 1964 to 1966. The car then transformed to a 426-inch Hemi V8 in 1967. The HemiCuda convertible is one of probably the most valuable cars in the world as it is so rare. Also, numerous want to get their hands on the Hemi 426 and 440s. Production was stopped in 1974.

Plymouth was done

Since 2001, there has been no Plymouth brand. If Chrysler were to bring back the Barracuda, it would have to be under the Dodge or Chrysler name.
